The instruments sounded like they should. I received and hooked up the Acrylic Platter to my Rega P25 today and all I can say is WOW OH MY GOD! I can't believe it sounds this good. I already have the deluxe subplatter underneath and I did not expect the noise floor to drop even lower than it was before but it has. But now I have three dimensional images emanating from my speakers with a wonderfully musically involving presence that I've never heard before and the bass seems to sound more natural than it did with just the subplatter. The midrange is still lush but the highs are much more articulate without being bright. I had a five hour plus listening session today as a result of the upgrade. This is the longest session I've had in years. I broke open the 5 LP Grateful Dead Box set released on Rhino earlier this year & listened to The 180Gram American Beauty remaster for the 1st time today. The detail is unreal compared to my old trusty MOFI copy from the 1980's. I also listened to the New 45rpm Muddy Waters courtesy of Chad Kasem's Quality Vinyl. It too bested every version I have ever heard including the original MOFI anadisc 200 and Gold CD my old references.

And to think about 5 months ago I was about to throw away my turntable because I was so frustrated with its lack of high end involving sound. If it wasn't for my friend Alfred Fredel of Enjoythemusic.com turning me on to your site and audiogon I never would have gotten back into the hifi hobby. But Frank, Thank You for saving me thousands of dollars that I don't have to spend on needlessly upgrading to a Rega P7, P9 or VPI Classic three. Instead of letting some BS Audio magazine or hifi dealer lead me astray I did my homework for a change and it paid off. For the first time in a while I feel like I have the upper hand and it feels very good. It's also nice to know there are still honest people like you in the HIFI world.

I received the platter yesterday evening. I am thrilled with the results! I have done a lot of listening, and I love how it sounds. It makes voices and instruments sound much more natural. The decay of notes, and vocals, especially female vocals sound much more natural and vibrant. It also turns without any wobble. My glass Rega platter could be seen wobbling slightly. It also looks great! My P3-24 is gloss white, and the platter makes it look much more expensive than it is. I could not be happier with this platter!

I already have your reference subplatter.  I am thinking about eventually buying the last of your upgrades I don't have, the counterweight.

Received the subplatter the other day and so far I'm more than happy with the results. Solo piano music (Glenn Gould playing Bach) sounded great; no more waver and wobble on extended notes. Solo guitar music (Jack Rose, Leo Kottke) was equally impressive; notes were "cleaner" sounding. My ears are 61 years old so I don't pretend to hear every nuance or be aware of every minute detail, but the background is much quieter.  The Band's Music From Big Pink sounded terrific, with each instrument and voice clearly discernible. I can't wait to listen to the Bach Harpsichord Concerti and the Dvorak String Quartets.
I checked the turntable speed with a cut-out strobe disk printed from an online source and the speed was dead on accurate. Thanks for a well designed and manufactured addition to my Rega P1. I also appreciate that the subplatter and accessories were well packed and that the instructions were straight-forward and foolproof.

I'd just like to take a moment to tell you how impressed I am with your products. First, the packaging was ideal and shipping costs are very reasonable. The simple, straightforward instructions made the subplatter installation worry-free. I started my first listening session with a well-played, noisy, familiar LP, and I noticed an immediate improvement!
The first thing to strike me was the vast extension in the highs and lows. Bass seems to reach below the floor with "slam" and speed, and the high frequencies shine clear as crystal like never before. There's an imaging that is as wide vertically as the stereo is horizontal.

The withdrawal of the glass platter and the ingenious sapphire thrust plate/zirconia bearing combination means less ringing in the mids and less overall vibration which only adds to vocal textures and brings a weight and emotional interpretation to voices that moved me immediately. Textures are kept distinct in vocal chorus, and each voice can be clearly heard, even while standing around one microphone.
Board fades are almost holographic, as they appear to "jump out" of their black surroundings. The signal-to-noise ratio is so greatly improved I can hear the hiss of the source tape between cuts, all of this without the expense of added surface noise. Reverb, echo, studio acoustics, and anything else that creates the musical environment or backdrop for a performance is much smoother and more realistic with a speed and accuracy that is breathtaking. Your upgrades have helped make my system so neutral I can clearly hear the tonal qualities of the source tape on many of my pressings!
The percussive attack of any device used to make contact with an instrument that lends its own tonal characteristics to the sonic picture (i.e., picks, brushes, mallets, mutes, bows, etc.) have such clarity and detail it brings a whole new dimension to music. In fact, albums of which I'm quite fond of and familiar with have such new life and added dimension it's like I'm listening to alternate takes rather than the masters I once knew!
Finally, wow & flutter is all but eliminated! I never thought this possible with a turntable. Piano sees the greatest improvement of all - this instrument has an accuracy on all accounts, I can't believe there isn't one in my living room, regardless of its recorded configuration (multi-miked, no mike, with or without reverb, etc.). I think it was the wow & flutter that was killing the realism of piano work and making the instrument sound dull and lifeless before. Now it sparkles with a brilliance that is intoxicating and realistic. The pitch is tight and clear with help from the Rega white belt.
I'm running your upgrades on a P3-2000 with an Ortofon Rondo Red moving coil cartridge. I have the Lehmann audio Black Cube Statement phono pre, Rotel amplification, Nordost cables and Dynaudio speakers.

To put it simply, I'm very pleased with this upgrade.

I just received the platter today and I MUST say that it looks and sounds outstanding!
Before I did the swapping I first took a careful listen to one of my "difficult" records - a solo record with Frida from Abba - that is recorded digitally, and then transferred to the vinyl LP.
Until now this record and many others from the eighties and nineties recorded digitally have had a tendency to sound a little shrilly, special on female voices. And playing with an Ortofon 2M Black, that is a little analytic, but very detailed and full of insight into the music and the recording session, it sometimes can be a little too much.
After the swapping, the first thing I immediately noticed, was much more "body", not so much shrill, better definition of soundstage, even better decay and now even more feeling of "being there" at the recording session, and get an insight in "how", "what" and "why".

 I also like the record having better "mechanical" contact with the platter, not "floating" on the stock feltmat. 

For now, Thank you very much for making these awesome upgrades for the Rega`s!

I've had time to listen a lot lately and here is what I think of the Acrylic Platter upgrade I just made to my Rega RP1.  

After placing this heavy and beautiful platter on my RP1, I noticed immediately that the bass was stronger and more accurate. That was just the first thing. After listening to a few more records, I noticed that the soundstage snapped right in to place where before it wasn't as focused. Then I noticed that I was getting much more information than before. This is what analog is all about. Music sounding like music, not electronics!

I can't wait to try the sub platter and the counter weight!

Hi Frank, I replaced each element on the Rega RP-3 then listened to a set of records I was familiar with. Most of the music was folk or rock.
Step one was to replace the Rega plastic subplatter with your (Groovetracer) reference subplatter. Right away I noticed a lot of detail, extended high end, better definition in the bass, and lots of clarity all around. The noise level is very low and I did notice how quiet the background became. I have noticed with the Rega subplatter some issues with speed variation; with the reference subplatter, that was eliminated.
Step two was to replace the glass platter with the Delrin platter. Wow! Maybe it was the combination, but I noticed detail and subtleties that put a broad smile on my face right away. I heard details on my LP’s that I did not know existed. For example, the reed sound of the oboe and the tambourine timbre and the vibrato plucking of strings on an acoustic guitar. I heard it in voices too, more rounded and natural. I liked it.
Step 3: 110gm counterweight. One nice aspect of the counterweight upgrade is being able to lower the dust cover. I listened to a thorny rock LP that I had recently recorded to CD via a Tascam DV-RA1000HD. The sound of that record was noticeably better, clear and natural with lots more detail and depth to the sound. I think the counterweight allowed this lp to track better and it sounded like it.
All in all, it was a great day for my turntable and my eventual enjoyment of my LP collection. I just noticed so much more development of the sound, sonic purity, clarity, roundness and fullness. I love it.

Frank, What can I say. The Delrin platter is astonishingly good. The acrylic platter was better than the glass platter but this thing is "scary good". Someone will have to pry this from my cold, dead hands (at least until you find an even better material to master machine). Most non-vinyl heads think I'm nuts until they hear real music coming from these antique plastic discs. Please keep up the good work. We are all very lucky you're willing to share your skills with the rest of us in the asylum.

I received your reference sub platter and Delrin platter today, less than a week after ordering. Pretty good considering it was in customs for a full day. I am now one of your customers listening to records with my mouth hanging open. So much more detail, such richness, such lushness. So much more than the stock P25 only hinted at. I read that one of your customers thinks his Groovetracer mods raise his P25 to the level of his parents' stock P7, and in some areas above. I know the P7 and agree with that.
In fact, this table now performs at the level of my old LP 12, a fully tricked out machine with Cirkus bearing, Lingo 2 power supply, moving coil cartridge etc etc. I sold it because it was so temperamental. With an Ortofon 2M Black, this old Rega is now in every way its equal. So thank you for your brilliant products, and for your patience in answering all my questions.

Hi Frank, I was extremely happy when I saw how well all your equipment is machined and manufactured, and it was sent very well packed and protected. The installation of all the elements in my P25 was easy and straight forward, thanks to the very well detailed and step by step instructions.
Sound wise, there is clearly a larger soundstage coming out of the speakers. There is a more detailed and focused presentation of instruments and voices, and a lower noise floor. An overall sense of the LPs being better tracked, more stable. Attack and decay of notes, much more natural and life like. I can say wow! Night and day improvement. The unmodified P25 was a good deck to start with, but the addition of these three Groovetracer elements has improved it significantly. I feel as if I had a newer and pricier deck altogether. In short, I would recommend all three GT products, the delrin platter, reference subplatter and counter weight 100%.

I wanted to report your Groovetracer upgrades are performing well!!! Installation of the components were a breeze, everything fit precision and looks awesome. The 130 gram counterweight went on yesterday completing the transformation of my Rega RP3.
Some of my references are Steely Dan Aja (Cisco), Allman Brothers Brothers and Sisters (MFSL) and all of my Floyd collection... Impressions - I'm hearing vastly more music now and much less of the vinyl medium. I have to say the emotion from the performances is overwhelming!!! I was looking for a better subplatter because I was not real happy with the plastic solution from Rega. A friend of mine advised me to look at the 'Groovtracer' Products, after studying the Website I came to the conclusion to order the'Groovetracer' subplatter for my RP6. As I get the package I was astonished about the complete professional packaging which includes, the subplatter, zirconia ball, a tool for removing the steel ball, Oil, alcohol swab and a considerable manual which tells you very detailed, what to do and how to install. After unpackaging the subplatter, it was clear that I hold a highly precise machined product in my hands. The installation was very easy because the detailed manual tells all how to do - it was something fascinating to watch the subplatter when it moves slowly down into the center of the bearing housing. The RP6 was ready for the listening tests now. I could not believe it, the RP6 now seems to reproduce the bass deeper and cleaner, I recognize more details and ambience. The 'Groovetracer' subplatter runs smoother than the original Rega one, also there is nearly no tumbling of the main platter when I compare it with the original subplatter, this shows how exact the 'Groovetracer' RP6 subplatter is produced. This product is a 'must' for all RP6 users. It looks great too and you are getting a lot more sound quality. Do not hesitate and order it.

It has really snapped everything into a finer focus, wither noise placed much further back, truly an excellent upgrade. Thank you very much for the excellent product. Of all the things I’ve bought from you over the years this one really hit me on the head. I can’t believe the difference this subplatter made. As soon as I dropped the needle I could tell that the noise floor dropped. The music leaps out of the speakers, which I already had thought was one of the major improvements in the RP6, but this really improved it even more. Particularly vocals pop from the mix more now. The other part that really grabbed me, and I didn't expect, is that the bass response seems tighter, more detailed and more dynamic now. Finally the pitch stability is moving closer to the RP8. So for just a little more money the RP6 can really increase in performance.

 Well, it's been about a year or so since I upgraded my Rega P25 and I just wanted to drop you a line about my impressions of the upgrades.  I purchased the reference sub platter, the delrin platter and the counterweight.  I just sat down and put on an old Art Garfunkel album I hadn't listened to in years and after a few seconds I felt myself getting a silly grin of satisfaction saying to myself, this is how music should sound. The imaging is rock solid, the bass is fuller, and the sound comes out of an extremely quiet background.  After I did your upgrades I added a record weight and the rega TT-PSU.  That added another level of definition and openness but the biggest truth is that it does all start at the front end, and with the Groovetracer upgrades added to my Rega, my upgrade path was much more enjoyable and musical. Thanks again for making such great products.

I shouldn't be surprised. I read all the positive stuff on vinyl engine and on the website but I'm still stunned. First of all, as others have said, pictures don't do it justice...your craftsmanship is stellar. Monday, seated it, got involved in some family stuff to the extent that I knew I wouldn't be able to listen to anything until Tuesday. Damn thing looked so good seated I didn't want to even put the platter on. Soundwise, I wish I could come up with something new. Your and the forum's descriptions of the sonic improvements are right on target. I will say this: the price is a bargain.  $500 would be more than reasonable and if Rega had your subplatter (and spindle!) as stock, the RP6 could be priced around $2,500 and well worth it.

I have to say I was skeptical that this one component would produce the level of change I'm hearing, but the good reviews you are getting on the audio forums are spot on.  Instruments are much more focused and detailed.  The soundstage is more balanced and the overall musical presentation has a tangible bounce that it did not have with the stock subplatter.  Records that seemed to be just a bit off with the stock subplatter are cohesive and foot-tappingly engaging with your subplatter.

I installed the RP6 Subplatter today and the improvement is obvious. I echo the comments of others that the soundstage is larger, the backgrounds are quieter and the music seems more integrated and “whole”. Instead of jumping from track to track and LP to LP during the first listening session, I listened to the entire side of every LP I played. That is the highest recommendation I can give any upgrade, I was drawn into the music instead of just clinically analyzing the change. Thanks again, I’m glad I found your site and tried your subplatter. If you have a Rega turntable, the Groovetracer subplatter is a no-brainer, an essential upgrade.

It's been 4 months since I installed the Delrin platter on my P25 and the music flows endlessly.  Gone is the static cling from the felt mat and flipping records on the fly is a breeze. I highly recommend the platter if one is already using the Reference Subplatter and counterweight. These upgrades have taken the P25 several levels above the stock form making listening a pleasure plus giving the appearance of a world class table.

I have the TT up and running. It is beyond my wildest dreams. I didn't understand the reduction in noise you were going on about, but now I do. Between tracks there is an absence of pops, clicks and hiss I would hear on my Pioneer PL-12D. There is nothing, I mean nada, zip zilch. Soft passages are utterly quiet and still as the solo notes breathe from the soundboard of Evan's piano and decay in the studio's air, truly a wonderful music experience.

The drum intro to 'The Boy in the Bubble' from Paul Simon's Graceland did it for me. It just grabbed me and shook me and said listen... now!

The bass reproduction is incredible and what I believe is the foundation for the music coming from my speakers. I mean, the bass has such a grip on the system that the higher frequencies just emanate easily from the drivers. Also the bass has a tonal quality and character that that the 'noise' veiled previously and obviously has an effect on the higher registers as well. The whole of what the engineers laid down in those grooves is revealed in Toto.

Anyway, I am very pleased and elated with the way this project came together. The end result just has me listening to music, which

is what I wanted. This whole project is the sum of all the parts and

really it began with you answering my call about the main bearing. I thank you for listening to what I wasn't asking but meant to ask with my questions.

I want to thank you so much for both the quality of your packing and the quality of your products. So good was your machining tolerances that when the platter was spinning with the record weight mounted, it was hard to tell if it was in motion.

For anyone you wish to share my comments with, the replacement parts turn the player into a contender to what I feel puts the table into a range of a minimum of twice the price level to three times the original purchase value. I say this since the value of the replacement parts are far below what a retail purchaser would pay for. The synergy of the parts working together is what makes it more than the sum of the parts.

Take for example the record weight. It is a simple concentrated mass easy to remove when the platter is in motion so you can remove the record without having to restart the motor. Handy eh! Even with the added inertia, the motor has no trouble starting I think due to the concentrated mass at the outer edge of the Delrin platter. Just brilliant!

This platter is something else, perfectly machined edge with the heft of quality. It controls record resonance in combination with the clamp so well that it makes records CD quiet.

I will try to describe the listening experience. I run a Simaudio phono stage to a Krell preamp which drives a Threshold amp to Magnepan speakers. I enjoy choral music as well as jazz and rock.

Frequency response: Sounds even from top to bottom.

Soundstage illusion: Can increase perceived depth and width.

Dynamics: With a greatly decreased noise floor, the volume can be increased to the effect of increasing the soundstage size and impact with easier access to extreme quiet to very loud parts of the music.

Finally, emotional response: If you were lucky enough to own a recording of performers you have heard live, the playing of that recording can trigger something in your memories about how good the recorded performance was. The experience will transcend all the high end audio yak and you will reach an emotional moment that a good performance in the privacy of your own home and head space can achieve.

I'd like to thank Groovetracer for making it possible to show that analog playback is rewarding enough for them to care about us average music lovers and our REGA players.

I thought I should drop you a line and let you know my impressions of the Groovetracer counterweight. Initially I bought the weight to get over the issue of my turntable lid not being able to be closed as I am using 2 x 2mm shims under the tonearm to achieve suitable VTA with my chosen cartridge.

I was expecting some increase in performance but the increase in

performance isn't slight, it's night and day. Imaging is better, frequency extremes both high and low are fuller and better controlled and the background is now near silent. I'm blown away.

The product looks a million dollars and your service is in the same league. I have no qualms with recommending your company and products to anyone who might be interested. Thank you again for your stellar service.
